Why aren’t we asking

So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.

Luke 11:13

So why aren’t we asking?!

We are dry inside…but we aren’t asking.

We feel lost and alone…but we aren’t asking.

We long for the way our relationship with Him ‘used to be’…but we aren’t asking.

The world is getting darker every day…but we aren’t asking.

Are we too afraid? Or do we just not understand who the Holy Spirit is?

Does it seem too “spiritual” or weird?

Because, we aren’t asking.

In the very first book of the Bible the Holy Spirit was there, hovering over the face of the waters. He was waiting for God to speak so He could act on His words and bring about all that was spoken.

The Holy Spirit breathes life into our dry and dead bones.

The Holy Spirit gives us vision for our future and spurs us on to do His will.

Yet we do not ask.

What has to happen before we open our mouths?

There is a generation that will chase Him down…that will ask and keep asking.

How much more will He respond?

There is a generation that will cry out for Him to move.

How much more will He answer?

Ask.

Today, ask.

Right now, ask.

Do not relent, ask.

Run after Him and ask.

Be the generation that receives so much more.
