Get close
Our tendency is to pull back from God when things are difficult in our lives. When we feel as though life is unfair or uncertain we often retreat from everything, including Him.
Why are our hearts so counterproductive?
Those times are the times we need most to be close to Him. Those times are the times we need most to climb up onto His lap like a child. That’s when we should be like that two year old who wants the attention of her Daddy. She grabs his face and pulls it close, presses her cheek against his. She refuses to let go.
When you are unsure of the ground you are standing on get close to God.
When life is throwing things at you that you cannot catch, get close to God.
Like a child, refuse to let go.
There you will find peace, joy and direction for your life.
King David understood this when he said:
Lord, how they are increased that trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are saying of me, there is no help for him in God. But You, O Lord, are a shield for me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
Psalm 3:1-3

Good encouragement!
I like your first line “Our tendency is to pull back from God when things are difficult in our lives. ” That is so true and so wrong. When things are going badly He is precisely where we should be going but we don’t. We don’t primarily because we have not been taught, nor have we learned, how to trust Him.
Everything in our world, including in the church, teaches us how to put our trust in man. This trust in man directly opposes faith and trust in God so when trials come we naturally turn to man not God. What if you were homeless, alone with your family in the woods late in the fall with little food? Where would you turn? What would you do? Many would turn to social services, police, friends, family or government but not God. Why is that? Mainly because we have learned to trust man and not Jesus. We need to start learning to trust Him in faith today so if the day comes we find ourselves out there we will turn to Him in faith; leaning solely on His provision. If you do so I know you will find the great reward of faith.
