Are you ready?

As I reflect…

on the year we are getting ready to leave behind I have this strange sort of feeling…almost a questioning. Like, what is a new year anyway? Isn’t it just another day? Is January 1st really so significant? Or do we just need an opportunity to start again? Do we just need a reason to pick ourselves up with renewed hope for what could be? And if we fall on June 22nd, can June 23rd be a new year too?

And with all of this thinking…

I am actually excited for 2020. I’m excited to see what the coming year holds. But I was excited in September to see what October would hold. I think I just want to live every day of every month as though something really big is about to happen. I want to live with an expectation that God is about to bust in with salvation for the lost…with healing for the broken…with peace for the restless. Why? Because He is. Like, He really, actually is. Don’t you feel it? Don’t you sense that He is about to do something big…about to move? He always is.

I love this scripture:

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Genesis 1:1-2

The scriptures goes on to give the account of creation…God said and there was. He said again, and there was.

I just love the imagery here…

the Holy Spirit is there…just waiting. I can feel the expectation of what is to come. It’s like the Holy Spirit is on the edge of His seat, waiting for the okay to move. And as soon as God speaks He does just that.. He moves And life is born. Creation is alive.

He’s still the same. He is still there…on the edge of His seat. Waiting for the Word to be spoken so He can move.

Are you ready for Him to move this year?

This week? Today? What is your expectation? Whatever it is it can’t possibly compare to the enormity of God’s plan. So, open His Word and begin to get a better picture of what lies ahead and start getting excited. 2020 is gonna be big!
