It’s not easy, but it is simple.

We spend so much time trying to figure out how to fix ourselves. We read self help books and go to therapy. We exercise and use essential oils. And here we are. Still trying to figure it out.

None of those things are bad. I’m an advocate of therapy and exercise. Both have been important in my life. But if I could pass on one thing to you it would be this…

Love Jesus.

I know it sounds trite or cliche. But hear me out, please.

Because I love Jesus, I want to know Him. Because I want to know Him I read the Bible and pray everyday. And in doing so I have found some things I didn’t know I needed. Things like…

Love for others
Joy – not happiness but real joy
And so much more…

These things have greatly affected how I interact with the world, how I interact with myself.

I now live with a new confidence. It’s not self confidence, but rather God confidence. See, I don’t have to be anything. I don’t have to look a certain way, or know certain things. Everything I am is in Him. Because I’m His I can be confident. Because I’m His there is no need to strive. He leads me, He comforts me, He makes me complete.

I’m not saying it’s easy, but it is simple.

There is no need to complicate it. So, yes, go to therapy, work out everyday, do the things that help your physical and mental health. But do not neglect your spiritual health, because it is actually the most important part. The closer we get to Him the stronger and healthier we become. The closer we get to Him the less the world determines who we are.

I am His
You are His

And that changes everything.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.

Psalm 23:1-3
